Johnny Jennings says he was unaware that a $400,000 proposal naming him had been presented to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office

A slide from the presentation former CMS board chair Stephanie Sneed and consultant Raki McGregor made to the sheriff’s office this spring lists Jennings as part of a proposed consulting team. Former Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said he had no idea that former Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools board chair Stephanie Sneed and consultant Raki McGregor were using his name to pitch a business proposal to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The Ledger reported last week that Sneed and McGregor made a presentation to the sheriff’s office in April attempting to win a $400,000 contract that they said would improve the operation of the department. The presentation listed Jennings as a member of the consulting team and listed his consulting firm, JCG704.
But in a subsequent interview last week with WSOC, Jennings said he had no idea that Sneed and McGregor were making the pitch.
