Empty office buildings: They’re not just in uptown, report says

Office vacancies in Charlotte have surged in the last couple years, to 23%, according to a new report from real estate company CBRE.

Although uptown receives most of the attention, office vacancies are a phenomenon throughout Charlotte (and, indeed, the country). It is a widespread problem. Uptown actually has a lower vacancy rate (21%) than the city average (23%), CBRE says.
