An economic development announcement is expected this afternoon, and it could mean a long-rumored headquarters deal for the Queen City is nearly finalized.

The city of Charlotte has scheduled an economic development press briefing for 2 p.m. today, a city spokesman confirmed to The Ledger. Additionally, the N.C. Department of Commerce’s Economic Investment Committee — which votes on state incentives awarded to companies for relocations and expansions — is expected to meet at 11 a.m. today. It’s common practice for the committee to meet a few hours ahead of a major economic development announcement.
