Chair Mark Jerrell has said he’d like Atrium’s board to have broader representation, especially for underserved residents

In a rare rebuke, Mecklenburg County commissioners chair Mark Jerrell declined to approve the nominees Atrium Health put forward for its governing board, Jerrell confirmed to The Charlotte Ledger/NC Health News on Thursday.

Jerrell said in December he was told if he didn’t approve the slate, it would be the first time in 70 years that the hospital board’s publicly nominated candidates were rejected.
