East Charlotte retirement community Aldersgate says it has completed its link-up with an Asheville-based senior living nonprofit — a move that will shore up Aldersgate’s governance and management.
For the last two years, as The Ledger has detailed, Aldersgate’s finances have been under state supervision after regulators deemed it nearly insolvent. Documents revealed that Aldergate had experienced mounting financial losses and owed money to vendors and to former residents or their estates, and the organization overhauled its nonprofit board and administration.
